John Wood, National Lifestyle Villages founder talks with Harvey Deegan about lifestyle village facilities
Harvey Deegan here and we’re talking lifestyle with John Wood, founder of National Lifestyle Villages. I’m interested in explaining to the listeners the difference between the range of facilities you’d get in a retirement village compared to the sort of facilities you get in one of your land lease communities.
Well Harvey there’s similarities and there’s differences. In a lifestyle community facilities are generally a much grander scale. The pools are bigger the gyms are bigger the dance floors are bigger. Lifestyle Communities are all around fun frivolity and fitness and really based around community connection. There’s also lots of things that you wouldn’t typically find in a retirement village such as a dedicated building for babysitting duties an extra pool so that lifestyles can stay connected to their kids and their grandkids.
Retirement villages also have beautiful facilities but they’re generally based around passive recreation and reflection. And they often have facilities that wouldn’t be included in a land lease community such as rooms for visiting doctors or healthcare professionals. These facilities are important in a community like
that because the average age is a generation older than the average age living in one of the land lease communities. That said they both provide a great solution to different people at different stages of their life.
